Back to the blog!

Hey all! We are back from vacation and boy did we have a blast!! I will be uploading the pics from vacation as soon as our new computer gets here (at the end of the week.) Just thought I'd post the last couple cakes I've done.

Here's the wedding cake I made for Dad and Gwen. The cake itself came together pretty easily even though I had to make it sans most of my usual tools. The hard part came when we had to deliver it. We drove from Huntington, WV to Fayetteville, WV (about 2 hours) with this monster sitting on my lap. Uh, and can you say windy roads! It took a lot of concentration to balance the cake around all the twists and turns. We also had to blast the A/C so that the icing wouldn't melt. Needless to say, it wasn't a comfortable ride but we finally arrived with no disasters and the cake was a big hit. The owner of the B&B where the wedding was held even said that it was the best cake they've had all year! And my sweet sister and brother-in-law, Tara and Kevin, say that next time I'm in they are going to renew their vows just so they can have some cake. :)

This next cake was a paid cake order from an old friend of mine who just happened across my blog when looking for cake decorators in the area. She wanted brown and blue so this is what I came up with.

And here are the cupcakes I made to match.

She also said the cake was a hit! Maybe I've got something goin' here!

You don't know how sad it makes me that you don't live in WV!! I'd hire you in a second to do Sophie's 2nd b-day cake!

(btw, I found your blog through Heather).

Beautiful cakes, as usual, sweetie. I really love the blue and brown one! You know blue is my favorite color!! So creative and fun! Maybe the next time I get married (if ever) we can go with something wild and crazy like that! LOL Maybe I won't wait that long.....let's go with my birthday!
By the way, it was wonderful to have you all here in WV. I miss you already.
Love, Mom

So happy to have you back! Both of those cakes are amazing--definitely makes me look forward to my second Wilton's class that I've had to put off until October due to scheduling issues. You are so talented!

I'm SO looking forward to hearing all about your trip! I am completely jealous that you got to take such a long vacation!

You are so talented, and I am sure you hear it all the time, but you seriously need to believe it! I would hire you in a second if you were near, so you really should think of expanding into your area and making a business out of it. I bet they taste yummy too!!

Gwen says that you have the touch to make a pretty and tasty cake. That is not easily done. I hoped we thanked you for the cake you made for us. Maybe in the rush of things we didn't. So thank you baby.
We appreciate the work you put into making it for us.
